Coral Recommendations For Nano Reef

Hi,
So I have a well established 15 litre nano reef (been running for over 9 months now) it is booming with healthy lps and soft coral, I have a small space next to a tube worm that I'd like to put some coral by, I was concidering trying sps and was wondering if anyone could recommend something that stays small and is relitevely easy to care for.

Alternatively are there any amazingly coloured, small lps/soft corals I could use?

I already have the following:

Neon trumpet

Acan

Zoas

Mushroom

Toadstool

Hammerhead coral

Mystery coral (appeared on live rock, I think it's an acan of some sort)

Gsp.

Thanks,
Ethan

Wow! 5 gallons is tiny! I don’t have any saltwater experience, but maybe get another piece of coral that you already have? Do you have any critters in there?

Share a picture if you can. I would add a nice torch coral.

Hi,
I have 2 sexy shrimp, and 2 hermet crabs, I also have one sand sifting and one turbo snail, there are numerous pest starfish that were hitchhikers but they look cool so they are staying

Hi, this is it:

I plan on putting it here:

Where the sexy shrimp is.

I though about a torch but I'm worried about the sweeper tenticals, so that's why I got the hammer.

Good looking tank! Bottom left corner for the torch would be perfect. Also clean that glass lol.

I would normally recommend a frogspawn but in a tank that small it would easily take over and kill the corals in your tank.

Would a galaxia work?

I think I'd leave euphillia as I already have hammer and can frag it to have multiple in the future.

I love this thing. I don't remember t he name but it is entrusting and grows fairly slow. Got a small frag and it's only spread that far in 6 months. You can see it climbing up the rock. It is probably my favorite. I am sure someone can name it! I think it's an sps. But that's just a matter of opinion anyway. Easy to take care of and sits right above my torch. I don't "feed" it, just let it be ant it does fine.

Oh, and I have not seen any sweeper tentacles at all!

Hi,
Do you mind if I open a separate thread in the saltwater begginers section asking what the coral Id is and use the pictures you attached?

No worries if not .

Thanks,
Ethan

be6c1e47e598e9be69bddc3509d54bc0.jpg maybe a duncan ? My duncan is left of the hammer in the last pic, they give you movement too, and are very responsive to feeding, I think Il recommend a Duncan. I Just sold a frag off of mine the guy was very pleased with it.

I like the blasto, I've seen the Duncans at my LFS but they were really expensive, I'll see what ultra zoas have. Is a blasto similar to acan?

Thanks,
Ethan

Looks like cyphastrea to me... That's one that's high on my list. Oh, and I would definitely never put a torch in a tank you size Ethan. I've had experience with two torches now, and it's not sweepers you need to worry about, the regular old torch tentacles are killers, (they easily reach several inches long even on smaller frags.)

Yeah I forgot to say about the torch, a no no, its the most aggressive of the euphyllia family. I seen something similar to that spa piece in your 20 stella.

My vote for the lower corner is a Duncan or a Blasto as either will have a little height, but won't be dangerous in your tank like a torch will. Looks like you'll still have room for cyphastrea, which is kinda flat, up on a higher rock.

Edit: Check out Liam's polyps too. It's a softie, but unique, and I love it.

Ok,
I'll see what my LFS charges for blastos.

I will try to get the one you I'd-d as it's really cool

I wouldn't worry too much about that in the short term. It is not a fast grower, and should not be of immediate harm as long as it's not touching anything. The fact is, all corals have some level of aggression and it's up to the owner to keep an eye on things. As it grows larger, you'd probably have to frag it eventually, but that's a good thing right?

Ok,
I'll see what my LFS has, sadly the reef upgrade is being pushed further and further away ☹️, so I'll have to wait for bigger coral, but I really want this coral so I may try to find a frag. Also it would be next to. My fire and ice zoas, would that be an issue?

The cyphastrea should not be a danger to anything it can't touch. I haven't put in loads of research, so I'm not certain, but I don't think it's a danger as long as there's a gap.
