So i just found out about copepods and after looking around some all i see is that they are used for saltwater aquariums.
Could they be used in freshwater aquariums also? Does anyone here have experience with them, in salt or freshwater aquariums?

Copepods, no, though I believe Sachs Systems Aquaculture has them if you want to try. Might have trouble keeping a population in your tank, depending on your stocking.
I do have amphipods in my tanks, also known as scuds. With enough places to hide, they seem to maintain a population. My honey gouramis enjoy hunting them.

ive only started 2 freshwater tanks so far but they appeared in both completely on their own. i have a few different types of copepods in each. my 20 gallon tank also has a colony of daphnia (water fleas) in it which is neat. not sure what you can do to make them appear if you dont have them already but they seem to pop up to eat biofilm when i add driftwood. i think the daphnia came in with some moss i ordered

just a little plankton type thingy lol. there are hundreds of species. i have some that look like rings and others that look like black rods. if i watch the rods long enough they spread out and swim away. they have little wing things and tails, kind of like a mini stingray. heres an article with a pic, mine look like this but i probably dont have the ones that eat algae

I also just found many copepods in my 10gal. It houses a beta, bristle nose Pleco and a few small snails. Google has me worried because a quick search led to ”many copepods...are parasites “. What are your freshwater experiences with copepods?
