Wow, that thing is huge.
Great news about the immunity to CF. It would be great if, in research scientists can find a way to utilize this.

They might be able to, in some way. If they find a way to produce the compound that gives the salamander its resistance, they might be able to use it to treat amphibians with the fungus.
It's even possible that, down the road, they could find a way to treat amphibians on a wide scale.

It's a great step in the way to finding a way to preventing/treating the chytrid fungus.

If that Japanese giant salamander is immune, then maybe its relatives the Chinese giant salamander and hellbender (found in the ozarks in eastern USA)are also immune. Big step to preventing the spread of the CF.

Hellbenders are awesome. We have tons here in missourI but they are going extinct. They look alike too.
