Convict Sex & Growth Rate

Hi all, I have what I believe to be a male
Convict (see attached photos). He’s only 5cm. Is this too small to tell the sex?

Also curious about Convict growth rates. At 5cm how old would mine be and how quickly will he grow to full size?

Hard to be certain at that size but I agree he looks like a male. Probably around 4 months old. I used to breed Rainbow Cichlids and their fry grew about 1 cm per month or a little more for the first 6 months. He'll grow quickly, especially the next 6-12 months.

At that size a female would probably already have her red/orange belly going on. As for growth they do grow pretty quickly compared to some other fish. I had one survive in my cichlid tank and he was 3 inches within 3 months.
