So my 160 litre tank currently has one female convict cichlid and around 20 babies (1cm). I was away for a week and I came home to my whole tank covered in hair algae, my valisneria was covered, not much of the cambobama (I think). But most of the glass was. I scraped all of the algae off, wiped it off the plants( as best I could) and did a 50% water change. Tanks looking good again, but my question is - can that many babies, even at this size, cause that much of a problem? Or was someone just over feeding while I was gone?

The algae near the edges i’m always scared to get too close to as I’m worried about damaging it. For reference, the father is a marbled convict and the mother is a pink convict as I think they’re called. The babies are now 6 weeks old since become free swimming and are beginning to show personality when chasing each other around.
