Constipated and blown gourami swimming vertically

I found my blue powder dwarf gourami today in this state. He was trailing a long piece of poop with him. Seemed like he's constipated because he was trailing his poop for over an hour. He keeps swimming vertically and taking gulps of air occasionally. I fed fleas last night and some flakes and granules during the day. But he's always been eating like he didn't eat for days.

What happened to him and how can I help? I am almost sure this is due to constipation and not sth else, right?

I threw cooked peas in, but he doesn't even care for good :(

Please help :(

Any way you can fill out the emergency template? What do you feed him and how much/often?

The cooked peas should be deshelled and cut up into small bites; the fish won't eat the entire pea. Daphina also works as a laxative and since gourami's are insectivores, you might have a better chance at getting him to eat it. If not, go ahead and try soaking the peas in garlic juice to entice him to eat it.

Apologies, I assumed since I saw so many people talking about how they spit water they were primarly insectivores. What should I refer to them as for future reference?

I would start to fast him. The other fish won’t mind skipping a few meals. If he won’t touch the peas, the next best thing to do is to allow his stomach to fully digest the blockage of food. My guess is this may have been caused by the Tetra flakes. They have many fillers and are hard for fish to digest, as well as they have little to no protien. A more nutrious flake is something like Omega One, Northfin, Fluval Bug Bites, or X Treme Flakes.

A water change would help with the nitrites.

They are Omnivorous, though insects should be a large portion of their diet.

Once they look like this it's usually too far gone to fix, sorry. :(
They typically aren't very healthy fish due to bad genetics, so any issues in the aquarium are usually exacerbated with them. Stress often leads to these problems and having a second Dwarf can be a trigger for stress.
