Concerned About My New Snail.

I just bought a snail today and I'm very worried because once I brought it home I noticed there was a piece of its shell missing with little black things coming out of it.

I believe now that they are baby snails (after showing pictures around) that seem to be living in that little area of the mother's missing shell but is she healthy and safe enough to survive without that piece?

I have included pictures of the hole in her shell along with pictures that I believe are her babies. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm wondering if I should return it to the pet store or not.

Those are pond snails! They are invasive. Unless you want hundreds of them in your tank. Remove them immediately. Like right now.

As for the snail, he should be just fine. Just get rid of the ‘baby snails’

I was worried and wasn't sure what to do so I have yet to put the snail or these pond snails in my tank. They are hiding in the bigger snail though and seem to like to be in it's shell a majority of the time. Are they dangerous for my tank and goldfish?

Ohhh I thought you bought the pond snail at first. Lol. I see it’s on your mystery. Just pick them out if you don’t want thousands. Your goldfish will probably eat any more that show up.

One of the pond snails was out and wandering on its own while the other one I had to carefully remove from the broken part of my snail's shell but I was able to get them both. My son was sad to see them go but which them goodbye and named his new pet Slowpoke. lol

Thank you guys for the heads-up about the pond snails so I was able to get rid of them before putting them into my tank

My son loves his two fish and was very excited to get Slowpoke. He does have a pretty big hole in his shell but most web pages say if he's healthy he should heal so I'm hoping he'll be okay. Fingers crossed that he's okay.
