planted tank, about 12.6 gallons.

was thinking i'd put 3 male guppies and a male molly in there once it's ready.

any suggestion for an interesting fish that would get along by itself with these guys and stay small?

if you wanted to keep the 3 male guppies, what would you put with it?

I hesitate to get a schooling fish, as I fear it's a commitment i'm not ready for.

so you get a little school of neon tetras. as they die of old age, you have to replace them or their friends will get lonely. seems like once you got a school, you'd never get rid of it.

endlers seem to be a strain of guppy. is that correct? how many in a tank this size?

No, not really. Once you have a school, you can let them die out, rehome or set upa "retirement tank"

Some say that, some say not. I think they are different species. With 3 guppys and 3 endlers that's a good stock

thanks for the responses. I want a tank stocked on the low side with a lot of plants. I retired and have the time to obsess about details.

things sure have changed since I had aquariums in the 70's.
