Community fish that prefers top level?

I need a schooling fish that's colorful and prefers the top level of the aquarium to swim at.

60 gallon tank, 76 degrees, 21 neon tetras, 7 sterbaI corys, 1 mystery snail

I would like to keep this a peacefull community tank. I'm leaning more towards a schooling fish, but I'm open to any suggestions. Has to swim in the top area of my tank. I also don't have a hood so the fish can't be known for jumping!

 

Pearl gouramis are beautiful, but their jumpers....I would consider the cost for a hood worth it for them.

 

I have a hood, I just keep it open all day. I have a problem with keeping the temp down because my house ac never goes below 76. So I can't have any fish that are known for jumping.

 

Well, I take that back they aren't really jumpers...they just sometimes jump when their badly startled.

 

My guppies like to stay near the top a lot. The males can have really fancy, colorful tails ...

How about a group of honey gouramis?

 

Ive heard that gouramis are mean more times than not mean. I don't want any kind of aggression

 

White cloud mountain minnows like to hang at the top or brown pencilfish.

 

Honey gouramis are just about the most peaceful and tame gourami out there. Not super territorial either.

Hatchet fish (although they are also notorious jumpers). Maybe killifish?

In a 60 gal tank, you could get several. Maybe stick with 3 - IMO you don't have to worry about males or females (females aren't that commonly sold - most of what you see in LFS are males). These are peaceful fish.
