Common pleco eat platy?

Hey all! Wasn't sure where to put this and I've been meaning to ask for a while (thanks Pokémon go for taking all my free time).

Can/will a 6in common pleco eat a full grown platy?

I'm trying to rehome my 2 male platies or my one female platy and one of my friends has a tank with only a common pleco in it. She will eventually be rehoming it, but I would like to know if I should keep the males until she does or if it's okay to put them in her tank.

Oh no. Common plecos usually always leave other fish alone. I have a 10 inch pleco and platies, mollies and guppies and I've only seen him be aggressive once to another pleco that I rehomed. He's never even ate my baby fish or snails.

What size tank? Common plecos get 18inches and need a 125g minimum. Like most fish they'll eat what fits in their mouth. A 6inch probably can't eat a platy though. Are you just keeping him till she finds a home?

She rescued him from a Tupperware container. I'm not sure what her "limit" is but she did mention when he gets larger she will rehome him. I believe she has him in a 20 gallon currently but I'm not 100% sure and she will be upgrading one more time. She has him in her apartment currently with no other fish. I'll have to talk to her more about it all. I just found 2 more babies, so I want to separate my adult platies quick and keep 3 of the same gender. I will most likely give her the other gender if she wants them all

The only way they will eat a platy is if is dead. Any fish will consume dead fish. The platy would be perfectly fine. Alison
