I have a gold fish (Big Bob) that showing signs of fin rot. I've had him over 2 years now and never had this happen before. I read aquarium salt can help heal it, how much do I put in a 50 gallon tank? Or any other ideas to help him out

I have never used aquarium salt to treat fin rot (or for anything else). The best treatment for fin rot is pristine water. Any time I've has a fish with fin rot in addition really clean water thru extra water changes, I would soak it's food in Garlic Guard and Vita-Chem. Vita-Chem can also be added to the tank directly.

Thank you! If u go that route how long roughly would it take to clear up?

It depends on how severe the fin rot is but you should definitely see progress within a week! I've never treated fin rot in Goldies, but I have dealt with it in Bettas, and clean water is for sure your best bet at healing him!

As motherofbettas said, within a week you should start seeing improvement, and within a few weeks they should be as good a new.
