Colored Polymer Clay?

Hey guys and gals, quick question that I'm curious about. First off, I use Sculpy Original (1.75lbs) polymer clay for my tank, I have used it for two years with my betta. He doesn't seem to be affected by it. I'm pretty sure it's fish safe because it's supposed to be like PVC when it cures and I tend to overcook mine lol (sometimes I use tin foil). But I'm wondering if colored polymer clay would leach anything into the water. I would love to make my own holiday decor because I'm gonna be honest with you....the holiday decor I see now doesn't really impress me and/or it's too sharp for my boy.
I didn't even think twice about polymer clay being toxic when I threw a piece in my tank two years ago, but I'm a little more nervous about the colored kind.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I don't think it leeches, the only reason it's not food safe is it has too many porous things for bacteria, which we actually want. It says that on their website somewhere, sorry I can't find it.

Like, I don't know if the white original Sculpy actually has dye in it ya know? I wouldn't get any of the glitter or metal looking ones, just plain colors. My main thing is the color, I know polymer clay is like totally waterproof once it's cured so the color should be fine right?

Okay so I'm testing it out, have had the Christmas tree in the water for a few hours and it seems pretty good. Made some birthday cakes for the snails and betta too.

Ooo! I didn't know this was an option and now it's given me SO many ideas.

Now that it's been a few weeks do you still agree that it was a good idea?

Yep, I made some more colored decor a few weeks ago as well. Decorated egg for Easter, pumpkin for Halloween, etc. I made a whole thread on the topic of you want more info:

Alternatives for you sculpting types:

1) Mix expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) with acetone. If you have sensitive skin wear butyl rubber gloves. Whole lot more bang for you buck (Sculpt is great, just pricey.)

2) If you have the patience, 9 coats of Polyurethane (3 of triple thick) will waterproof anything. Build coats with gloss, then one final (not triple thick) coat of whatever sheen you like. This is how painted, concrete-coated polystyrene backgrounds are made aquarium safe.

3) For $ saving purposes, if you run out if Sculpey Glaze, it's just Polyurethane with some silica dust thrown in. (Silica dust is superfluous).

Nice make!
