Color changing...

I watch my boys all day every day, and I fail to notice the big changes that are happening to them! Like I just realized last week that Jett's fins are about twice as long as they were when I got him, and then today I realized that Romeo's color patterns have completely changed. All of the sudden, his fins are almost completely red! But not really all of the sudden, I just haven't been paying attention. Look at the pics...

My little babies are growing up so fast! *sniffles* ;D I'm glad he still has his little red koi looking head, tho, I just love that so much...

Yeah, do you have a color enhancing food? they do tend to change colors espcially when they are babies. He's very gorgeous btw with his new colors. Natalie

 

Hrm I hadn't thought of that at all! It says on the HikarI Betta Bio-gold package that it's a "powerful color-enhancing diet." Nice! lol

we feed ours color pellets, but just once a week.. Romeo's looking more handsome than ever I think. Stacy wants to take him home!

 

Well they both look wonderful!! I find myself starting to like the kinda dalmation/white looking ones, even though it is rare to find them here. Wink Jack Sparrow was white body with blue and turquoise fins, now he still has the white body, but his fins are losing the green and are an inky blue. I think he looks like someone splattered him with ink!!! He never looks any bigger to me -- only his attitude. He is the feistiest (if that is a word??) little guy........always looking back over his fin ( shoulder??) at me, jumping right out of the water if I don't tip the little feeding spoon quickly enough, or hold the blood worm close enough. I am sure that is going to have bad results one day...........anyway...............back to your boys

Does Romeo really have that pinky & purple colour?? So cool for sure. They are loving their mommy and home I am thinking!!

a week hed gone from red fin to blue fin, and his fins are kinda short, so fins

It is really more of a red/maroon color when you just look at him. The flash distorts the color some.

I'm not really sure how old he is. I've had him for 3 months almost, and when I got him he was very small, so maybe he is 6 months all together? I don't think their fins keep growing indefinitely, but I would think Romeo has probably reached his adult length now. His fins are definitely longer than they were when I got him. It's still hard to tell with his tail tho, because he has fin rot off and on there.

As far as the color changing goes, Romeo has always been red and white with hints of black on his gills and pectoral fins. I think it is normal for them to change colors when they get home and out of the stressful situation of the LFS and cup. I have seen many people around here say that theirs turned out to look completely different once they were relaxed and safe in their new environment.

 

well, he is a handsome betta - Romeo's a good name for him.. i'm sure he'd love to go romance the ladies.
