Coffee Table Tank

So I'm curious, I keep seeing those coffee tables that double as a fish tank (or is it the other way around?) and what is everyone's opinion on it? Aesthetically they're kind of fun to look at, at least while they're newly set up, but then what about poop, algae, etc.? Not to mention the fact that you're looking at the top of fish when it's usually the side that's pretty. I'd never get one because my coffee table doubles as a collector.

I think it’s gross. It’s going to get yucky, sooner or later. Aesthetically, I don’t even see the point.

There HAS to be a way to clean them. I think many of them have a gap between the top and the sides, and that's probably enough to get the gravel vacuum in, but really the top should be movable too when needed.

Second, I think it only works in a room you don't use much. So not a den or living room you are in all the time. More like in a guest room or a drawing room. The top should left clear or mostly clear, otherwise what's the point? And I'd worry about stuff getting into the tank that shouldn't if I was using it for food or drink...

I've never seen one in person, but I'm not a fan of most photos. I think the biggest point of them would be if you just really wanted a tank near to the ground or if you wanted a tank in the middle of the room because you didn't have space near the walls. A "coffee table" would look better than a random tank in the middle of the room.

I agree that most tanks look best from the sides, but there are exceptions. Some fish tend to dig up plants, so you want to stick to hardscapes anyway. And you can design so it looks good from above. Turtles also look good from the top (though that would have to be a big table for full size ones).

I like the pics of them, I think the Photoshop is well done to make it look better than it really is. I personally would never get one. Mainly because I am a human and I have legs and sometimes I like to flop them on top of things so...I don't wanna shatter the fish tank/table without thinking lol
Also small children...they are tank/table height...big ol'nope.

Ive seen them and wouldnt actually mind one if I had the space. Scaped well they look really good and I often watch my fish from the top down, I would say atleast 20 or 30 min a day plus whenever my daughter wants to see the fish as I have to pick her up for her to see.

The ones ive seen the top is fully removeabke and the filters were built into the legs.

I would crave a fish tower built into the middle of my coffee table

I’ve seen the coffee table ones in person and honestly there not really worth it tbh.The one I seen has a two part top so there’s this cheap plastic part which breaks really easy if you’re not careful then the glass top can be unhooked (if that makes sense) from it so you can take it off but it’s heavy like really heavy! So you’d need two people to move it just to do maintenance on the tank and the shower fog up rather quickly if you have fish that need warmer water like dicus,So your only be limited to platys,Molly’s and maybe goldfish

(Not worth the money in my opinion)
