CO2 System for a 65 gallon Planted Tank

Thinking about getting a CO2 system kit from CO2 Art for a 65 gallon planted tank. For a tank this big, would an intank diffuser work well? I heard for bigger tanks an inline diffuser works better for tanks this size. I have a fluval 407 canister filter and i dont want to go through the trouble of setting up my filter with an inline diffuser.

 

Sure...an in-tank diffuser will work. It is not as efficient CO2 wise though.

 

I had the same dilemma with my 64 gal. I tried an inline diffuser but I didn't like the fizzy look in the tank or the flow reduction. I have ended up with a CO2 Art Bazooka Flux diffuser located under the inlet of my Fluval 406. It has worked well for me for a couple of years now.

Thank you good to hear! Did you order the large diffuser? Also, I should purchase the CGA320 regulator, correct?

 

I use a simple FZONE mini regulator, and a wooden air stone with the fine bubbles going into the filter intake.

Yes I got the large diffuser. The thread type probably depends on the standard in your country but I think in USA it's the CGA320. Would be best to check that.

 

I use a powerhead and feed the Co2 through the would be airline in a 55g. Despite not going through the impeller itself, the bubbles are pretty small and you dont really see them unless you are looking at them. I'm set at about 2 bubbles a second.
