Clown Plecos died - Any ideas?

Hey, I bought 2 clown pleco for my 25g tank and they have both died very quickly
I have a social tank with red and black phantom tetras, also 2 upside down catfish, my water levels are fine and never had this problem before, please help with tests or reason why this might have happened, is it safe to buy pleco again?

did they perhaps starve ??
they need driftwood
and how long has your tank been up and running

 

3 and 5 days, I fed them flake food, I don't have driftwood but neither did the shop, its been running for about 3/4 years

Can you post your readings for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and pH please?

Yes, Plecos should have driftwood in the tank for them to munch on. Driftwood aids in the digestive system for this species. However, with your fish passing so suddenly, I doubt the lack of driftwood in the tank was the cause of their demise.

Did you acclimate the fish before adding them into your tank or did you just drop them in? Acclimation is crucial and I recommend the drip acclimation method in the link (w/video) below:

I would also recommend for the future that Plecos be fed fresh veggies such as raw zucchinI and supplemented with Algae Wafers, Spirulina Wafers and shy away from flake foods for this species. These fish need more than crumbs leftover by other fish.

It would be best to try and figure out why the fish passed before adding more fish.
