We have one baby goldfish in a 30 gallon tank with a 45 gallon filter. We cycled the tank before we out him in. He has been in since Thursday and when I woke up this morning the water was really cloudy and murky looking. How do we fix this?

What are your water parameters? Do you have a test kit to check?

We used rocks and water from our old tank and added the ammonia and yes we have been testing the water

Adding water from old tank doesn't really do anything. Most of the bacteria lives inside the filter. Can you post your test numbers?

It might be a bacteria bloom, I agree with the others, test your water.

I just tested the water. Ph is a little low at 7.0. Ammonia was at 0ppm nitrite was at 0ppm and nitrate was at 0ppm. I will get some of the ph adjuster to raise the ph but in not sure where to go from there.

what are you testing with? is it the strips? nitrates should have some sort of reading, and i wouldnt worry about your ph, not many fish are that picky about it.

Yes it's not smart to mess with your pH, it could cause a crash and have serious consequences..

I think it's just a bacterial bloom. Have you done a water change?
