Cloudy Water on a new tank

JawsRazor

Hello. I have a fairly new tank; 10 gallon; 1 inhabitant (a blue lobster or crayfish or whatever you want to call it). It's been clear for 2 weeks, but over the last few days it has gotten very very cloudy. The TDS was 150 ppm this weekend; today it is 490! All other parameters are low (Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) all below 5ppm. What is the cloudiness? Is it a bacteria bloom? Should I let it be or change the water? Thank you.

It’s likely a bacterial bloom. Was the tank fully cycled before you added the crayfish? When you say parameters are below 5ppm, what are the exact readings?

It probably wasn't fully cycled. What I did was I added gravel from my other cycled tank and waited a week before adding the lobster. This morning my ammonia and nitrite were 0 and nitrate was 5. Not exact readings from anything digital; just getting as close as I can using one of those color matching kits.
