cloudy water from adding sand

I have had cloudy for over a week from adding sand to a new aquarium. Then I added a filter and after about 3 days, it has gotten a little better but still extremely cloudy. I added a single silver dollar and can't even see it. I added a full dose of water clarifier and hope that will work. I used Aqueon water clarifier. Can I use too much? I think there is a lot of sand in the water column so it might need a lot more than I put in. I used about 40 ml in a 75 gallon tank.

Did you rinse the sand before putting it in your tank?

Have you done a water change since adding the sand? If not, I’d give that a go.

No, I wish I did rinse it now. The water cleared up and I started planting the tank and it got just as cloudy as before. I just vacuum the excess fine sand on top and added some water clarifier. I think I will keep repeating vacuum/10 gallon water change and clarifier until it clears up.

What size is this tank and what kind of filtration are you running?

 

75 gallon with aqueon 110 filter. Looks like the water cleared up though. It looks great, I guess it just need some time.
