Cloudy Tank Water?

We just got a tank for a betta fish. It's 5 gallons.

It's newly set up, and running with a filter, and heater. It's nicely planted, and has live plants.

Any ideas on why it's cloudy? IMG_8294.JPGIMG_8291.JPG

Bacterial bloom more than likely, usually isn't a bad thing.

I agree, it's a bacterial bloom. It'll clear with time, just wait for your tank to finish cycling.

    Can I add Tetra SS?

If it has been at least 24 hours since you added a dechlorinator, and you have an ammonia source yes!

    It's been 30 hours.

Did you already put a bit of fish food in the tank to start the ammonia up? If you didn't, I'd go ahead and do it and then pour in the TSS+ tomorrow, but don't forget to ghost feed with the food.

Are you aware of the betta in the tank?

OMG I didn't even see him! Yes, add the TSS today :)

We had ADF's for a day in there, but they weren't working out, so we bought filter when we got the betta yesterday.

I added conditioner yesterday, after acclimating the betta for 40 minutes. The tank has been set up for a total 3 days.

I can do a test right now! :) Let me give you results in 2 minutes.

    pH: 7.8
    Nitrite: 0ppm
    Nitrate: 20ppm
