Can I soak my plastic plants and decor in baking soda and vinegar and water to remove diatoms or does only bleach and water work?

I'd run them through the dishwasher. I do that with some things.
But the bleach will work also if it is rinsed very well.

Unfortunately our dishwasher is broken.

Vinegar and baking soda works as well.

Just soak them and if so, how long? Or scrub them with vinegar and baking soda?

Even just cleaning them with tap water and a toothbrush would work. Diatoms rub off very easily.

Lol, my diatoms must be the exception cuz I have to scrub my plants really hard to get the diatoms off and even then they're still not quite clean. It takes FOREVER to scrub them so I would rather just soak them and be done with it.

Get a bowl or a bucket and a gallon of white vinegar, mix half hot water and half vinegar and let it sit in there until the stuff comes off easier, then take off as much as you can...once you are done with that make a paste out of the baking soda and some hot water and scrub the decorations that are flat with that (just like you would if you were using comet in a tub or sink). Then rinse rinse rinse.
