Cleaning in-between water changes

devsi

Today is water change day, and something just crept into my head…

Before and after every water change, we rinse all of our stuff (jugs, buckets, siphon, nets etc) under the tap.

But the one thing we’re told that’s worse for fish than anything else is water that hasn’t been dechlorinated. Am I harming my fish/bacteria by doing this? Or is it ok because it’s only rinsing and we’re not adding the water to the tank?

Is there a better way to clean the equipment? Especially if it helps contain virus’ from going from one tank to another.

Note: I’m only talking about equipment here. Anything in the tank (filters etc) are rinsed in water change water

It has a very, very minor impact so indeed not really anything of concern, no.
