120 Gallon Tank Cleaning filter tubing

I have a 120 gallon tank with the filter system on top of the tank in a series of horizontal compartments that run the length of the tank. A tube runs this distance carrying water from the intake to the filter system. I had had the most difficult time cleaning all the gunk out of the tubes... they do pull apart but still it was a challenge and they never got cleaned properly.
I was talking to a friend about this and they suggested a rifle barrel cleaner. I went on line and ordered this cleaning tool..... bliss I tell you!!! It is long, has a brush on the end and I can push it all the way through the tubes. I put some tissues around the brush for added width and it works great.
Just wanted to share one of my little victories in tank maintenance.

Thanks for sharing
They make filter brushes specifically for use in the aquarium. You can get them in all different sizes for cleaning different lengths of tubing. They work great!

Since I don't have anything near that big, I just use a chopstick with a paper towel around the end to clean my HOB intakes. Works like a charm (except for where it bends LOL)!

Riffle barrell huh? Good to know. I'm trying this today, picked up at Home Depot. A dryer lint cleaning device, super flexible.
