Cleaning Driftwood in Dishwasher?

So today I am going driftwood hunting at a local river. I am hoping to get a few large pieces for my new 55 gallon tank. When I start to get it ready for the tank I plan on putting it in the dishwasher first. How well does the dishwasher work for cleaning driftwood? Also after that I plan on soaking it in the tub and pouring boiling water on it. Does this sound like a good plan to clean the driftwood?

Too much of a chance with soap residue.
This may or may not be true but I wouldn't chance it.

I have read success stories about this method but have not tried it personally yet. Just make sure to first run the dishwasher empty/no soap once or twice to get rid of any soap residue.

Agree with the above posts. I would definitely soak it/boil in hot water several times after the use of the dishwasher. You definitely don't want soap on the wood.

If I had very large pieces like that, I would just soak them in the hottest bath water I could get. I personally wouldn't use the dishwasher

I would not use the dishwasher for many reasons including the idea of soap/rinse aide residue.

Also, from past experience on washing ANYTHING wood in the dishwasher - just don't! The heat and water combo dries out most wood even if you leave it on the "no heat" cycle.

Using a bucket and water to soak is the best option
