Cleaner Fish for a 20 gallon?

HI Guys,

new to Fishlore and to Freshwater Aquarium.

I have a 20-Gallon tank and these are the inhabitants.
2 Gourami
2 Golden Severum(yellowish in color)
2 platties(got from a friend)
1 zebra dano(got from a firend)
1 Orange Crayfish - bought it because my daughter wants one
1 Rainbow cichlid
1 Jack Dempsey

The plants are already 2 weeks old and I'm seeing some brown spots on the leaves of the plants.

Any advise on what to buy as cleaner fish? I will be posting the picture of my aquarium by this weekend.

There are fertilizers you can get to help with the plants. What kind of plants and what kind of lighting do you have?

For a 20 gallon tank, you are very over stocked. I'm not trying to rude in any way so please don't take it like that. The severums and jack dempsey need much, much larger tanks. For a single Jack Dempsey I wouldn't go smaller than a 55 gallon. These Cichlids get Huge! I would not ad any fish at all. Your current stocking really needs about a 100 gallon tank with those cichlids. You may want to think about finding them a new home. Perhaps the fish store will take them back?

 

At this time, I wouldn't add any cleaner fish.

How long has the tank been up and running? And were you planning on upgrading your aquarium eventually?

Of course, not even doing research - I'm pretty sure that you have fish that are not compatible with each other. Biggest being the Jack Dempsey.

What kind of Gourami do you have?

 

Both the Jack Dempsey and the Severums get up to 10 inches or more.

I am always direct about bad news, because if it's sugar coated people tend to misunderstand and they hear what they want. 20 gallons is one of the smallest tanks you can get, so it can only support small fish. All the cichlids must go and at least one of the gouramis, depending on the species.

Is it a dwarf crayfish or a regular one?
