Clean The Inside of My Python?

Dovah

Last night during water changes I noticed that there was a bit of gunk on the inside of my Python hose. Of course, it's in the very middle of one of the extensions. Any ideas on how to clean this?

you cold take fish line..attached to a small lead weight...drop it through the tube to the other side..attach it to a tube brush and pull it through! You may have to chop off the handle og the brush though. You could also tie a small piece of paper towel to the end of the fish line.

Does it look like mold? If so and what I do after every tank water change is start suction of a bucket of water on the counter with bleach in it, a capful or two. Run it through then as it gets down close to the bottom add in a gallon of regular water if you want to though any bleach residue would be removed from the hose on your next water change. This has kept my hoses clean for a couple of years as I have a few different ones.

Even if its not mold this would work to get rid of other residue too.

I think it might be algae or mold as you said. Bleach scares me in regard to fish. :x

You could also use vinegar then just rinse it out well. I don't use bleach for anything lol.

So when people say they use vinegar for cleaning aquarium supplies do they mean distilled white? Or a different kind?

Yup I use distilled white vinegar for all fish things.

I use apple cider vinegar for my coffee pot due to calcium buildup.

Vinegar is great for removing calcium deposits off the edge of tanks and the like. Taking the hose and filling with hot water..and running a towel through the hose works well..and no chemicals are introduced. I suppose bleach could work,,,but I;d be somewhat afraid of the plastic tubing sucking up some of the bleach and leeching back into my tanks. It may work..but I like to keep anything that smells or sounds like bleach..away from my tank. Rocks are one thing..but tubing would make me nervous.

You don't need to use it of course but I use it all the time with no issues and have for a few years

But vinegar will work too, just a little more slowly. For that matter, peroxide would do the job too.
