Most freshwater clams are not for beginners. They need a good food source (food particles in the water) which not all aquariums have. They also like to burrow in the sand, and if they die and cannot be found and removed, they will pollute the water greatly. I would suggest going with something else unless someone can find a very easy-care "beginners" clam. Good luck!

Your welcome. I'll look on some websites and see if there are any clams suitable for beginner use.

I would not get a clam if you are a beginner. They will spend a lot of their time in the sand and require very difficult care that you might not be able to manage. If they die, they can kill everything in your tank.

Why not get something 10x more interesting and perfect for a beginner, like a mystery snail? They are fairly big and move all over the tank.
