Clam Question

Hi,so I have a 15 litre nano reef that has been running for over 6 months now, I'd love a clam but due to the tank's size it wouldn't fit or quickly outgrow it. My question is, is there some sort of dwarf clam species ? That stays really small.

Or is there a coral alternative, I was thinking of using a shell and growing zoanthids in it or something but I was wondering if there was something more realistic?

Thanks,
Ethan

Ok,
Do you mean flame scallops? I heard they are really tough to keep?

Is there any coral? I though of filling the shell with putty and fragging some zoanthids on.

if there are stable enough water conditions flame scallops should be fine... a baby tridactna clam would be fine also if your tank is heathy enough and just sell it when it gets to big... (buying small and selling larger can make you money)

I would absolutely not recommend you keeping flame scallops or any clams in your 3.5G nano.
Clams require very very stable parameters and will quickly deplete your trace elements and out-grow your tank.

Ok,
I do dose calcium however I'll wait until I upgrade to a 250L before getting one.

I may try the zoa idea

Clam? You mean tridacna? if you wanted.. Tridacna crocea (the rock boring clam) would be a good candidate as they come from shallow warm water, and do best is high light, I’ve got a one gallon and have been debating on getting a crocea clam, I’d say go for it.

Hi,
I didn't really have a preference but I'll Google it, I don't have much space in there but I can re-scape again.

The light is really bad, (TMC luminair I think its called)

Ethan

Edit : I NEED ONE, why is it called a boring clam? It's so cool.
