20 Gallon Tank Cichlids For Tank?

Is there any cichlids that would work in a 20 gal tank? I just want like 1 male and 1 female, or 1 male, 2 females. It would be a species-only tank. Also, I am new to cichlids, so is there a more hardy breed to choose from?

 

Well, if you went dwarf cichlid, you could keep Kribensis or some rams.

 

You could also try Convicts or Jewel Cichlids. There are several types of cichlids which are similar to convicts. Honduran Red Points are one of my favorites.

 

There are shell dwelling cichlids that are really small, but they are tough to find.

 

I LOVE Convicts, but I always thought that they needed giant tanks to be happy. This is what the cichlids would be living in, when the puffers are moved.
