Cichlid with damage (?) to eye

TClare

This morning the male Cichlasoma has one eye slightly swollen and white around the edge. It was fine yesterday. I suspect an altercation with another fish, especially as the pair currently have fry. Has anyone here experienced something similar? Hopefully this will resolve on its own?

I've gone through the infected eye issue numerous times with African Cichlids.
There really isn't much to be done other than let nature take its course. If the eye is completely engulfed the Cichlid will be blind in that eye.
Occasionally an injured eye will heal up & be just fine. I've never had a fish die from an infected eye.
You might try Microbe Lift Artemiss.

Thanks, the actual eye is not cloudy, just the surround is white and looks slightly swollen. Actually today it seems a bit better so I am hoping it will just heal naturally.
