55 Gallon Tank cichlid plants

doe anyone know of any good plants for cichlids? I would like to add some to my tank but I need some for beginners and that will work well with cichlids. thanks -jeremy

Guessing from your avatar you have Africans so the only I know that will work are anubius and java fern. Pretty easy low cost and low care plants.

Africans ( Mbunas like your avatar) will up root any plant you have in the tank without question. if you make sure they are well attached to rocks or other decor you may have success. good luck.

anubius and java fern. ok thank you very much. I will give em a shot. I appreciate it. I was kinda lost in all the different kinds. yes they are malawI cichlids

Yea with the anubius and have fern you need to wedge them in between rocks.

With Mbuna ( who are basically vegetarains) IMO any plant is hit and miss, not only will they unroot them constantly they will also destroy them. if I was to put plants in it would probably be silk.

I agree with the above anubias and java fern, but I've heard (and please correct me if this is wrong) you can also plant some val grasses in an african tank.

Anubias is the easiest plant I've ever worked with. Just set it and forget it!
