Jack Dempsey or Convict ??
Sorry for such wide range ..
The blue spots say Jack ,the 'almost stripes ' say convict..
Never owned either ..
Hybrid ??

That’s what I was thinking also and he is black but I also saw the color thank you so much

Definitely not a JD. Doesn't look like a convict to me either. Looks more like a Bumblebee in full breeding coloring to me. But if it's a male, I don't see egg spots. Still looking...IS that blue on its face? Could be a hybrid.

Actually, it definitely is a JD. They can get very dark like that when stressed, I've seen worse. There are other characteristics, such as the red trim on the dorsal, the head shape, and the overall body shape that combine to make it a JD. I don't see anything to suggest hybrid, either.

I agree with @chromedome52 it's a JD. It has blue spangles below the eye & a blue patch near the mouth. Not many spangles behind the eye. My guess is a female.
