Cichlid building a “nest”

So my Vieja Melanura has built a bit of a burrow / nest in the bottom right corner of the tank. He doesn’t spend all his time there - he’s still social - but it’s an interesting hollow under a log, in the sand.

Is this natural behaviour and asign of a desire to breed - or does it suggest something else? It’s a healthy tank with ‘happy’ fish but want to make sure all is well.

Water a bit murky - this photo was take just after a significant water change.

Cichlids are always digging up nests, totally normal. Unless he gets super aggressive I wouldn’t worry.
