The chlorine is very dangerous to fish and plants the nitrates and nitrites and ammonia you also should get rid of them
It is good to remove them

It will eventually but you have to let it sit for a couple days. Dechlorinators also often do something else that is nice, which is help remove metals in the water.

If you use a conditioner, I don’t think chlorine or chloramine (more likely) is the one to blame. Sensitive plants will shred and etc when they suddenly have a big environment swing.

When you buy new plants, and put it in your aquarium, sometime it melts. Even my hornwort melt a little bit when I puy it in my other tank, same water source.

Chlorine gas will go readily. But most of water has chloramine (cheaper and more stable for processing). That being said, you have to let it sit for multiple days and prob there’s still residual. I would buy a bottle of conditioner if you don’t have one.

If you want to add tap water right to your tank from a hose or python you dose enough for the whole tank. If you use buckets you can dose the water in the bucket before you put it in.
