Chinese Algae Eaters and Mbunas

EthanNuckks

Hey everyone, I recently got a 60 gallon tank which came with a Chinese Algae eater. I’ve heard they have a bad rep for sucking the slime coat off of fish but do you think demasoni and yellow labs would be okay sharing a tank if I had plenty of hiding spots? The CAE is quite big so I’m wondering if mbunas would be fast enough to swim away or if I’m better off trying to sell the CAE, thanks.

Hi

I've heard so many horror stories about CAE's I'd say it's not worth it. At the same time I hear plenty of times saying they have no problems.

The sucking of the slime coat happens when fish are asleep I think so even if there are hiding places for a relatively fast but flat sided fish it could still be at risk.
