I saw him before I went to bed last night I even droped a piece of an algae wafer in for him. This morning he us no where to be found. I have checked everywhere. Under all decorations on the floor. I have a hood and the only place he could have jumped out is the space between the filter and hood. Stocking is male dwarf gourami male molly female platy german ram 4 platy fry 2 amano shrimp and 4 guppies. If he were dead I don't think the could have eaten him so quickly could they? It was still small about 2 inches or so very active. None of the other fish ever showed any aggression towards him he was the one who was very aggressive towards the others. Chasing them away whenever they got close.... What could have happened....

Check your filter. Could be in there

I agree with aquatickeeper.
One thing about Chinese Algae eaters though is once they get to adults they don't eat algae anymore. I had one and after he reached about 4 inches long, he started attacking my platies and sucking off their slime coat and scales. If you do find him, you should either rehome him or give him a proper tank with no other fish.

I agree with bloomire. They will suck on some fish and that will stress out the fish or kill the fish by using the sucking action

Even with a prefilter, they can get into the filter...they swim up the waterfall

I just had to pull my aqueon quiet flow 30 out of my 29 bow front because my pleco insisted that inside the Motor Next to the impeller, was an excellent place to hang out

This was the fourth time he'd gone missing into the motor in a week, in spite of having a prefilter. Each time, I had to take the whole thing apart to get him out

He's a 2 inch bristle nose

I once took a canister apart and freaked out when I saw movement in the media....it was a pair of kuhlI loaches that I'd counted dead for months.....they'd been living in the filter the whole time!

What kind of filter do you have? If the motor hangs into the water, then there's a little compartment in there where it could get.

I have no idea how they get in there, but you can check, and let them out by pulling the tube off from the bottom

That's where my guy was going.....inside the motor itself

Surely they weren't still alive?

You would be amazed

They can get into a filter and just hang out until found

Since filtration units pull in algae, they have food aplenty for as long as they are there

I have located my CAE . Or sadly what remained of it. Which was nothing but a big piece of mucous rott. He manages to get him self stuck at the very tip top of the spiral in a shell I had in my tank. So so sad... Very very smelly.
