So I have a 5 gallon with cherry shrimp and 4 endler guppies. I was wondering if the endlers will eat the small shrimp when they breed? It is heavily planted so lots of places to hide

Yes the endlers will likely eat some of the baby shrimp. If the tank is planted enough and the fish are fed really well you'll likely still get baby shrimp to survive but the endlers will go after the smallest shrimp

They might eat a few, but I doubt it would be enough for you to notice. The shrimp colony should increase just fine.

They might eat a few but with a heavily planted tank, most should survive. Can you post some pics of the tank so that we can see how heavily planted it is?

They WILL eat only a very few of the day old cherry shrimp . Endlers are not predators that hunt down every last shrimp. In fact the adult cherry shrimp will push the endlers out of the way and take their share of food from the substrate.

There is an endler in this picture. While moss and leaf litter are an important food source for shrimp you will not have to worry about having a lot of plants to provide hiding places when you only have endlers or ember tetras.

I had endlers with neo shrimp. After the endlers became adults, the shrimp were more shy, not hanging out on the ends of the leaves as much.
