I just finished treated my tank for ich a few days ago. Now i’m noticing all the cherry barbs have fin rot? Some of the fins are nipped off with white edges and red markings(veins?) around the tail. Is this fin rot? They also look to have clamped fins.

Edit: Parameters are: 0/0/5

There are some barbs that are hiding.

Have you experienced any of them nipping each other?
It appears to be fin rot to me, but the clamping is a definite sign of stress.

Not from each other. What I noticed is the pearl gourami likes to chase them. So that has to be it?

Since this isn’t contagious - should I move the pearl gourami, cories and loaches to my display tank and treat the barbs for tail rot?

You said every single barb has a damaged tail, right?

Yeah. There’s some that have it nipped, and some that have the white edge, but no nipping.

Yeah. There’s some that have it nipped, and some that have the white edge, but no nipping.

Well, it’s unlikely that the gourami would nip every one of them, so it has to be partial fin rot combined with the nipping.

So should I keep the pearl in the QT with the cherries or should I keep him in it?

Interesting... I have Pearls and I've never seen them nip anyone except themselves in the case of a pair.

Yeah..I thought they were peaceful fish. It might be because the cherries are tiny.
