I recently saw some cherry barbs at a local store and was wondering if they are compatible with my 5 epsei rasboras.

Hi there,
Water Parameters wise they are compatible. However, may I know your tank size and potential tank mates that they might have?

Hmm Okay.
How about replacing the Cherry Barbs with neon Tetras. Neon Tetras will look great with your set up. Cherry Barbs can also get nippy if they are kept in low numbers. Also, up your espei Rasbora school to 6-8.
So your stocking would look like this;
1x Honey Gourami
6-8 Neon Tetra
6-8 Espei Rasbora
6 Panda Corydoras

That sounds perfect, I was planning on upping the rasboras anyways since they are so much fun to watch thought adding a few more would really bring out their personality. I really like the idea of having 2 types of schooling fish.

Another option instead of the neon tetras would be celestial pearl danios or ember tetras
