Cherry barbs suddenly pale and dropping!

Went to check on my angelfish that I was worried about and I see all my barbs are pale and one is dead. They looked so healthy this morning I can’t believe it. Today I did a small water change using prime and got some new angels from a breeder and everyone seems fine. I dont know what could have done it. Could I have used too much or too little prime. No ammonia or nitrites- less than 10 ppm nitrates. The gills of one actually look a little reddish but I feel like I usually use double the amount of prime so I don’t know how it could be from chlorine..

Pretty sure you can do high doses of prime without trouble so I doubt it's that.

Have you checked your water PH? That could be an issue.

Is the water well oxygenated?

If the water is clean and good quality then it must be a disease of sorts
