My work van isn't going to last too many more years, and I decided a while back that it just has to be replaced with a kombI bus. 70s era or earlier. I don't think it will have the space a work van has, but when you're cruising in a kombi, who's gonna care?

Ok, this is my baby Dolores. 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner. 440 big block, 1 7/8" long tube headers with a 3"collection, edelbrock performer intake manifold and 750 cfm for barrel. MSD ignition and coil. Just put in a new torqueflight last year and transplanted the 440 HiPo out of a 69.
She's got a burnt out exhaust valve right now that I've been working on. Having problems pulling the cylinder heads in my garage with the headers that ate on the car right now.

Ok, I'm not really a car guy. I get something relatively cheap and simple to get me and my stuff around. Currently I have a '09 Ranger with a cap. Bought it used 18 months ago with 23,000 miles on it - virtually new. I travel a lot, so like to have a newer vehicle so I don't have to worry about break-downs. It replaced an older Ranger with 156,000 and a Wrangler with 134,000.

I joined in to add my two cent's worth on manual transmissions. I very much prefer a manual. The majority of my vehicles have been manual, starting with a '66 Ford Fairlane when I was in High School, three speed on the column. All but one of the new vehicles I've bought over the years have been manual.

About learning to drive one. I agree with what others have said, it's not really something anyone can teach you. About 10 minutes of explaining how it works, when to shift, and a couple of pointers is about all you need. After that, it's strictly a matter of practice - until you develop the "feel" for it. A bit more, and it becomes second nature, you just sense when you need to shift.

One small note, each standard transmission drives slightly different, even your own will change slightly over the course of a couple of years. When you jump into a new (for you) standard transmission vehicle, it may take a start or two to refine the "feel" for this particular vehicle, but it comes very quickly.

I agree, they are way more fun to drive.

My Mazda 6 up there is a 6 speed manual a lot of shifting.

My first stick was a 93 Toyota camery I got for my birthday. I took it to a parking lot and figured it out there I had a concert to go to lol.

Thanks! I love your Mazda speed! Had one as my daily driver before I traded it in for my new daily driver. Well, I had the speed 3, bolted up, boy that thing was fast.

New daily driver is a '13 mustang gt 5.0 with the track pack option. Whole lot of fun. Not much like rowing through the gears with rear wheel drive.

I am happy to see a thread like this , there are so many nice vehicles. This was my original passion in life as a hobby, but not so much anymore since it costs too much.

Here is my daily driver, a 2009 malibu LTZ that I bought when it came off being a rental car. I bought it with 40K miles on it in 2010, and I am somewhere around 84K now. It was a good deal at the time since it paid off to work at the dealership I bought it from. The 4 cylinder is slow coming from a HemI ram and FWD impala ss, but it serves its purpose well. Only things I have done to it are paint matching a few pieces on the car, and I spent two week stripping and polishing the aluminum wheels to a mirror finish from a machined finish on the face with black inside. I do not recommend anyone trying that unless there is tons of time available lol. I also changed the LED's in all the switches to white from green (first time soldering on circuit boards), I added HID headlight and fog lights, and tinted windows. There is next to no aftermarket parts for the malibu, so I did it all myself so it would look different.

My basic stereo system that is pretty well hidden from those driving by.

Old picture

I love the interior of this car. The coloring is awesome to me.

Also, here is my project car, a 1970 Ford Maverick. Swapped in a 302, stripped the whole car to bare metal and worked up, new metal with no rust, all new interior, new suspension, and many other things. My dad an I started this when I was 16 (almost 26 now), and all it needs is paint but the funds don't allow for it. This is an old picture of it.

just raced a speed3 for the first time. we got up to 135 but I won, got a cpu and cold air upgrade. but it was still pretty close both are very very fast for 4cyl. I love my AWD but a RWD would be fun at times but I can still slide around a corner if I want to.
