Check out my pond.. Let me know what you think?

I dug out the pond with the help of friends and family... and installed in everything else.

It has overflow filter with custom made filter box. Has a few plants and a few fish.

At this time, I had a few koi and center peacock endlers. Kois have all been eaten by a grey heron since then.

I've recently added more koi, and I'll post up if anyone is interested.

Nice job on the pond. I always wanted a koi pond, too old now. You need to put up a sign NO BLUE HERONS ALLOWED. Dadio's has some posts and threads of his koi pond and build that are fascinating you should check them out. there is a forum for fish ponds. Welcome to the forum and I am so glad you joined us. would love to see more pictures and videos. Alison

Nice work. Can you do a walk around showing the filter and other details?

How big is your pond?

Back east I had issues with herons too. Installed a movement detection sprayer that would send a burst of water which worked keeping them away

 

To answer some of your questions, I have the cheapest ebay overflow filter. I am using the 1000gph pump from homedepot. I created my filter box using lava rock as the filter media.

pond now. Neglected... I think because I was frustrated with the heron as it finished all my kois last autumn so I left it for a while. pump also not at full speed because I'm using gravity return piping which then kept overflowing, so I had to reduce the input flow rate. I need to revamp the filter box.

Tried the sprayer already. worked initially as I did notice babies weren't disappearing, but then the fish continued disappearing again... worked just for a bit.

 

Your pond is lovely!!! I want to sit in it!

I'd love to know why the only add it wants to keep putting on there is for senior cruises though...
