10 Gallon Tank Check Out My Molly/guppy Hybrid!

One day when I was looking in my tank as usual, and low and behold, a baby fish! And then I saw another one! One of my mollies came pregnant when I got her and most of them were stillborn and the couple survivors got quickly eaten. So I was surprised that there weren't any dead ones around but figured they got eaten. But it was weird because both mollies are female and there are three male guppies. Before the red guppies died, I had noticed they were sniffing around the mollies a lot. And then I replaced them with yellow guppies. I think this little baby was from the red guppy based on her color. And I see the yellow guppies sniffing around the mollies too but they don't look pregnant yet. So who knows, maybe we'll get some more yellow molly babies!

Do you know if they're fertile? I would think not. Hopefully not...

Nice! I've heard of Muppies too and never seen one yet. I'm curious to see what it looks like when it grows up.

Are you sure they weren't pregnant when you got them?

No, my mollies have been with us for a few months now and one already had a batch shortly after we got her. No other way she got pregnant besides these male guppies. Here's a pic I just took of Iliana, she's certainly not like the silver molly or red or yellow guppy. It's a wonder these guppies can mate with them, they're like 3 times their size, lol.

If you didn't know they can and do have fry months after being taken away from a male. They store the eggs then have them later. They can do this a couple of times. I hope it is a hybrid however, would love to see what it looks like once grown!

^^THIS^^
Most female livebearers have the ability to store sperm for up to 7 spawns and possibly as long as a year !
It would be cool if you have muppies but odds are yours are molly fry IMO.

Considering the female is closer to wild coloring than the others you see in store, the babies won't look like much - within a couple weeks you should be able to see if they are pure molly or not (they will look different from guppies or have traits of guppies). Muppies/gollies are sterile, by every account.

Does it take a while for a lyretail to fully develop? She's got a rounded tail like a female guppy instead of the lyretail of the white mollies.

Lyre tail is recessive I believe and only shows in 1/2 of the fry at most .
Most male lyres are useless due to their extended gonopodium thus a regular male is usually the father …
You won't be able to use that as an identifier IMO .

More pics. There's mom white lyretail mollie, and one of them looks like she might be brewing some more fry, and then baby by the guppies. Beats me, she doesn't look much like the mollie to me. She's healthy though, and eating well, nips all over the place. I saw her nip a mystery snail antenna this morning, lol.

If it stays female and is viable that would be a decision maker IMO..?
