I want to upgrade my tank light from a florescent tube to an LED light. The florescent tube came with the tank and is fitted to the hood. View attachment 376938 that hole is where the florescent tube goes and is where I will put the LED. The length of the hood measures approximately 24.8 inches whilst the hole itself measures roughly 20.4 inches long and around 3.2 inches wide. So I was assuming that I could buy any LED light that is anywhere from 20-24 inches long (assuming that it is okay for the light to actually be longer than the hole).

I was looking at this light, (Nicrew RGB LED Light strip, 14w with 72 LEDs) I was thinking that if it was the right size I’d just place it right in the hole, otherwise I’d suspend it above the hole using the brackets, will one of those options work?

Is this even a good light, should I get it as I don’t really have that much money to spend on a light? Is it reliable? Will it be able to grow my Anubias, Java Fern and Water Wisteria?

It will probably grow anubias and java just fine. I believe a 26B is fairly tall so it might be a little taxed for much else. I think you will find for an extra $5-8 shipped you can find a bit stronger light on ebay. There are some reputable seller that have sold thousands of them with good reviews.

A little taxed, what exactly do you mean? Is this a good quality light though, is there a better Nicrew light for cheaper? Could I have a link to EBay ads that you referring to, what are those lights?

I have Aquaneats on six planted tanks and they are very good for the price. Certain Beamsworks are decent. As far as the Nicrew light I've never owned one. The output just looks a little weak for a deep tank. The Nicrew is under $20 shipped. That is very inexpensive. It wouldn't have to last forever. I just don't think it will put much light on the bottom of a 26B tank. You mentioned anubias and java fern. They require less light than most any plant I am aware of.

Thanks for your help. I’ve just created a new thread asking for suggestions as to what light best suits my tank, not just a review of the Nicrew.
