Charlotte, North Carolina haul

Charlotte's 3rd club auction was this weekend.
Ross and I headed over Friday, since it is a 5 and a half hour drive.

We took:

2 red hump geophagus, christmas moss, claico bristlenose for Juan.
Several pregnant females guppies to folks who wanted to get new blood into their lines.
Cuban livebearers for one of our buddies to give to her son as a fish to produce fry, for mom to put on aquabid to suppliment his allowance.

For the auction:
about a dozen koi x marble quarter sized angelfish
Cuban livebearers
baby red devils
wisteria
gibby pleco
white pineapple swordtails
tiger platies
as well as several other things

We brought back

registered line of endlers as a gift from some friends
60 or so baby albino bristlenose
Purple Moscow guppies as a swap with another purple Moscow breeder
5 sevrum from Juan
pair of red lizard tail plecos currently living with one of our fish buddies in Atlanta until he can get film of them breeding
36 inch light unit for Ross' second planted tank

and a few other things.

One other thing I want to add.
During the auction, a kid new to the hobby kept being outbid on cherry shrimp by an adult who was taking them to another fish show in 2 weeks to sell, as he had promised more than he had in his fishroom to the people buying them at the second fish show.

Ross and I drove the price up past what the guy was willing to pay and give the kid the shrimp.

I don't even know the kid's name.

Sometime's you just have to pat yourself on the back.

Nest time, we are staying over Saturday night.

Thursday we went to the monthly meeting in Atlanta
Got home at 2 am Friday.
I went to work, Ross started working on getting things ready to go to Charlotte.
Left to go to Charlotte at noon.
Got in about 7 pm.
Went out too eat with one of Ross' cousins.
Back to the hotel at midnight.
Back up at 7 am.
Auction until 3 pm.
Stopped to Juan's and another friends house to drop off/ pick up fish.
At Juan's we set up the 55 he got at the ACA's that we had taken back to Tennesse as he had no way of getting it home.
Has a very nice dinner cooked by Juan's mom!!!!!

Back on the road by 8 pm, home about 2 am this morning.

So, LOOOOOOONNNNGGGGG weekend.

I wish everyone had as great a weekend as we did.

The kid's mom was already checking out when I went to search for the last bag of shrimp, as I knew one still had not gone thru the auction.
They got outside when I got them up to the table to be auctioned.
I ran outside and told them I would be back with the shrimp in 3 minutes.

Once I got the shrimp to the kid, he asked what he owed me, I told him " not a thing" and he then shifted the bag out of his right hand into his left and shook my hand, thanking me once again.

Boy, did that impress me.

Nice haul. Those red lizard cats were very interesting. I've only ever seen them once before. Hopefully he will breed them and get some more out there.

I saw this, I was impressed by you and ross for this. Glad he got his shrimp before he left. I overheard the kid talking to someone yesterday and I have to say I was impressed. He was pretty knowledgeable and was asking some good questions.

Did the stand get there alright? haha.

The only thing I picked up at the auction were 4 small discus fry for a couple of bucks and some Albino BN that I got from Dino. Also the pair of discus that was a deal pre-arranged. I withheld myself this time, there were some really big discus there this year haha.

HI Dino and Ross
What a wonderful weekend you two have had... Sounds like great fun!
You know you two have started that young fish keeper on the right road..
He will never forget your generosity and some day.. he will 'pay it forward' as well! That is what life is all about... More of the goodness.. to share.. and to experience. You two did a wonderful thing today.. you should pat yourselves on the back for that one!

Sounds like you guys got some great stuff! Sounds like a fun weekend to me, but I bet you guys are exhausted Hearing your story about the boy and his shrimp was so refreshing. I love to hear about people who commit random acts of kindness. If only everyone was as compassionate and generous as the two of you.....Can't wait to see pics of the new fish if you guys have any

Will try to get pics tonight. (It is best, I find, to get pics after dark.) I am almost recovered from all the driving. :nopity:

The auction itself was fun, and some of the fish we got were awesome and worth the trip. I find that we had a few friendships solidify a bit more with some of the people at the auction, which made it all worth it.

I will especially try to remember to get pics of the cichlids Juan brought us. (A Gold Severum, Rotkiel, and a couple of others.)
