5 Gallon Tank Changing water depending on the evaporation

My 5g tank whose water hasn’t been changed from like 2 weeks ( I know that’s a lot ) can easily let water evaporate since it’s semi sealed, the water has evaporated by 7.5cm now, which you can say 3-5cm in a week if I’am not mistaken, can I just refill the water every week instead of sucking water every time I change the water and maybe evacuate substrate monthly? I think that could help me not to over change the water and sustain the bacteria in the water.
what do y’all think?

Thats a great thing to do if you don't mind having finrot and sick fish on the regular, if you ask me.

Oh, didn’t expect that, let’s just change the water normally as normal fish keepers do then :)

I top off every day. Even if it's just to raise the level... err... 3mm?
(Just guessing. As I don't use metric.)

Isn't it easier to top off a little every day, rather than waiting for more to evaporate?
Plus I could never look at a tank that was a couple inches low on water. Never mind the heater and filter problems that might occur as your water level drops.

But that's me. I WC my 10g at least once, if not twice a week. It's so darn easy because it's small I don't really think about it.

ETA: Not a believer in big WC's unless there's a problem. 20-30% works for me.

Changing water does not take any bacteria out. I would advise changing 50% of the water once a week minimum. That will never be too much for just fish. I gravel vac every time I change water too.

If you want to avoid losing bacteria dont clean all the glass at once or all the deco at once. Space them apart.

Yeah I get that, I’ll just stick to the way I change the water normally, its a lot easier as you said

Thanks for the advice, I’ll just throw away that idea as the people here explained to me its a bad idea, I’ll just change water as usual
