I'm planning on changing the gravel in my 20 gallon tank. A lot of the paint chipped off my black gravel and it is now orange. Overall it's just worn out.

If I take all of the gravel out but leave a filter cartridge that has live bacteria in the tank after the new gravel is in will it make a difference? Or will it have to cycle all over again?

you could have a mini cycle...but if you find a net or stocking of some kind, you can collect it all and put it in that and keep it hidden in the tank for 2-3 weeks ...

I'm also worried there are snail eggs in the gravel I have a small infestation and I'm trying to get rid of them. I'm hoping changing the gravel will help. I'll try to find a stocking. I think I have some old nylons I can use. Thanks Shawnie!

Good thinking! I'm pretty sure they haven't seen anything. They're still in the packaging.
