I keep my 55 gallon at a constant 80F, I want to change it to 76 so I can keep more fish. Can I just set my heater to that temp and it will slowly lower it? Or do I have to manually lower the temp myself by a few degrees every few hours?
Thanks in advance!

I imagine if you set it to 76° now, it will stay off till the water itself cools from 80° down to 76°, then click back on like normal when it lowers past 76°

It will cool slowly so yes just turn down the heater to what you want it to end up at.
