Changing My Betta's Diet

Hello, I've recently adopted a new blue marble betta from the pet store after the heart-breaking death of my first betta. It has been about a week since I adopted my new betta and so far he is doing well. However, I noticed that when I feed him, he snuffs his nose at the API® Tropical Pellets I use to feed to my other betta and currently feed to my corydora. At first, I assumed it was because the pellets were to big to gulp down, so I've been breaking them into smaller chunks, but he still doesn't like it. He only wishes to eat Omega One Freeze-Dried Blood Worms. I don't know how healthy they are since the bottle labels them as treats, so I've been wanting to change him to the pellets, but I don't know how I go about doing that...

If anyone has experience with promoting a betta to change diets, and also know how healthy Omega One Freeze-Dried Blood Worms Vs. API® Tropical Pellets are I appreciate the advice very much.

Try feeding her both a treat isn't bad every now and then. Blood worms are packed with protein. If she still doesn't touch try a different brand. I assume the betta is a female.

Freeze-Dried Bloodworms make up the majority of my bettas’ diets. I switch it up frequently, but the bloodworms are the staple (e.g. 1 week bloodworms, 1 week pellets, 1 week bloodworms, 1 week daphnia, I week bloodworms, etc) . They’re great protein-wise, and they seem to love them.

I’ve had bettas refuse certain foods, and it’s really just a personal preference it seems. My one flares at food he doesn’t want lol

Geuss I can't help much because my betta will eat almost anything.

I can't say anything on the nutrition, but the two big problems with the food might be: It's old, or they don't like the brand. If the food has been exposed to a lot of moisture, or has been open for a few months, it might have gone bad.

Your betta might just not like how that brand tastes, however. You can find hundreds of different betta foods, and beyond that bettas will love any high-protein floating food that fits in their mouth. I'm trying a few different foods right now, but can't recommend much beyond that general guideline.

The cup he came in said "male", I don't know how to check sex so I assume its a male, do females flair like males, he like my other betta has a hatred for his reflection..

Alright, I'm gonna starve him a day because hes getting a little to round for comfort. I think I've overfed him so we'll see what he eats Sunday.

Females do flare, but male bettas tend to have longer beards. A better way to tell gender is to look for an egg spot - it’s an ovipositor tube, so only females have them. It’s a white dot located kinda between the ventral fins. Basically, if your fish doesn’t have this dot, it’s most likely a male

try mixing the pellets with the blood worms and if that doesn't work try a flake food my bettas go crazy over the krill flakes.

Body shape is a much less reliable method of sexing bettas - looking for an egg spot is the best method

I know, I just seem to see that in males.
