Changing from sand..worth the hassle?

I've been thinking of redoing my 20gal from this black sand I got from Petco to Fluval Stratum. My swords have good long roots on them already, so I'm wondering if its worth trying to uproot and move everything or will the shock of it kill them? I've gone from gravel to sand no problem, but never had to remove sand in this scale before so I didn't know if it would even be worth the hassle. Has anyone else taken sand out of a bigger tank like this before and was it a lot of work?

 

If it ain't broke, why fix it?

I personally would hold onto to the stratum idea for another tank...or if things end up going to Hades in a handbag on this one at some point.

Thanks! I think the main reason I want to is because it seems like the cleanup would be easier on the stratum vs sand. I may just wait until I get a bigger tank in the future

Yeah i mean, if your plants are doing well and fish doing well, i always hate to do a big change.
